Fabric grainline defines the placement of each garment piece of a completed garment. Straight grainline is a critical element in apparel construction and the garment that is cutt off grain, has not a good garment appearance and quality and when worn this garment will not fit correctly.
Apparel manufacturers are always looking for the solutions to reduce the production costs. Increasing fabric utilization is one of the ways to reduce these costs. For this reason, apparel manufacturers usually use tilting patterns off-grain to maximize fabric efficiency.
In this study, without any changing in garment appearance and quality, the effect of tilting pattern off-grain on fabric usage amount are examined. For this reason, different types of models are selected and the pattern of them are prepared. Then by computered system, fabric usage amount are determined.
